M5 traffic live: Long delays in Somerset after cows block the carriageway

The M5 is closely congested after cows escaped onto the motorway this afternoon (June 24).

Site visitors was initially held in each instructions, between junction 19 and junction 20 for Clevedon.

Footage from motorway cameras are exhibiting stationary visitors alongside the affected stretch.

Site visitors monitoring website Inrix studies: “Queueing visitors attributable to earlier cows within the highway on M5 Northbound from J20 B3133 Ettlingen Means (Clevedon) to J19 A369 Martcombe Highway (Portishead). All lanes have been re-opened. Site visitors has not been helped by Friday getaway visitors.”

Site visitors maps present there may be stop-start visitors on either side of the motorway between Bristol and Taunton.
