County’s travel twitter takes title at Worcestershire Hour awards

COUNTY highways chiefs are celebrating after the favored Highways and Journey Twitter account was topped at this 12 months’s awards.

The @WorcsTravel channel took dwelling the gold award for Greatest Use of Twitter within the Public Sector and was awarded the silver for Greatest Marketing campaign for its yearly #GritterTwitter function.

The account is used to maintain residents up to date on all issues roads throughout Worcestershire, together with highway closures, the most recent on main infrastructure initiatives and different highways works, and within the winter retains residents updated when the gritters are out and about on the county’s roads.

Coun Mike Rouse, cupboard member for Highways and Transport, mentioned: “Our Worcs Journey and Highways Twitter account does an important job of conserving residents and guests to Worcestershire updated with all that occurs on our roads, always of the 12 months and in all weathers.

“It was an honour to be with the staff who assist to run the account on the occasion as they collected their awards.”

There have been greater than 60 awards handed out on the occasion, for all kinds of classes together with Social Media Apprentice of the Yr, Greatest Use of #WorcestershireHour by a Charity/NFP, and Greatest Use of Social Media by an Artist.

Some classes had been determined by a public vote, others had been determined by judges together with Man Marson of the Modus Company, Rachel Davis from RT Social and Stuart Allen, the founding father of #WorcestershireHour.
